Ben Sawford
Managing Partner
Ben has 30 years global experience advising major corporates and governments on sustainable energy and technology, from concept to feasibility through to design and operation as well as road mapping on transition and policy for Governments at an executive and Prime Minister level.
Ben has delivered across 65 countries and some 1900+ projects with a focus over the last 10+ years being Energy Transition and sustainability markets, strategic energy and industrial advisory consulting across existing major energy supply chains and governments on a G2G2B basis, with particular focus on supply chain, stakeholder engagement and project integration from energy source to diversified off-take.

Patrick Hastwell
Senior Partner
Patrick brings 14 years of commercial experience in energy and sustainability, spanning strategic advice to asset-level management on globally significant projects.
Most recently, Patrick served as the Europe and Africa Director of Energy Transition Advisory at KBR, following key executive roles in Australia, including Vice President of Sustainability at ConocoPhillips and Santos, as well as Energy Transition Advisory Lead for Australia at KBR.
Patrick’s strategic, commercial, and technical expertise is supported by studies in Law and International Relations (University of Adelaide) and Sustainable Energy (University of Queensland).

Max van Someren
Director (Australia)
Max is a renewable energy techno-economics expert, R&D leader and engineer who has held senior leadership positions in industry and government.
His current work includes leading techno-economic modelling of green iron development pathways in Australia for The Superpower Institute and energy strategy advisory to Arafura Rare Earths, where he leads the development of their decarbonisation pathway.
Max’s other experiences include working as a Principal Energy Advisory for KBR, a senior project manager in the WA Distributed Energy Resources team at AEMO, and leading an R&D team at Austal Ships. Max is chair of the Engineer’s Australia WA Working Group for Energy Transition.

Peter Williams
Investment Director
British founding partner with 20 years of experience in capital markets, commodities, and renewable energy across APAC and Africa. He co-launched ARIA Commodities, expanding to 14 global offices, connecting producers with key markets.
His expertise in financial markets has helped secure major investments in renewable energy infrastructure, particularly in emerging economies.
He has led project origination, financing, and structuring for solar, wind, and bioenergy projects, working with investors, developers, and regulators. With a strong institutional network, he facilitates capital flows into large-scale renewable projects, driving energy transition strategies in growth markets.

Sam West
Senior Analyst
Sam is an accomplished financial modeler and analyst whose experience prior to joining Bivios included working as a Senior Research Analyst at Wood Mackenzie on Hydrogen Projects, as an Energy Transition Consultant at KBR and as a Project Manager at BloombergNEF. A graduate in Chemical Engineering, Sam’s passion is for the intersection between finance and novel technology solutions in the energy transition.
Specific examples of Sam’s experience relevant to supporting OEP include helping build, refine, and maintain DCF models for a number of energy transition projects, quantifying financial returns, cash flows, government subsidies and fiscal incentives.
