Bivios Joins Leading Industrial Research Cooperative as an Affiliate Partner

Bivios is pleased to announce that it has become an Affiliate Partner of the Heavy Industry Low-carbon Transition Cooperative Research Centre (HILT CRC). HILT CRC is a collaborative venture that brings together industries, researchers, and government organisations to seek new low-carbon technologies and methods that will overcome barriers, and help transition the steel, iron, alumina and cement industries to decarbonise heavy industry.

As an Affiliate Partner, Bivios joins a program of research and development activities that are accelerating Australian industry’s transition to a low carbon future. Bivios will also become a member of the project team for HILT CRC project RP3.007: "Unlocking investment in energy infrastructure for net-zero industrial hubs”. Bivios’ contribution to this project will build on its established reputation for the delivery of authoritative models of low carbon industrial systems, such as the green iron model used by The Superpower Institute for their Green Iron Plan for Australia, released in May 2025.

Bivios CEO Ben Sawford said:

“Over the last two years Bivios has been working closely with industry, governments and not for profits such as The Superpower Institute to identify how Australian heavy industry can harness the opportunities of the energy transition. We are privileged to be joining HILT CRC, where we will be able to deepen our collaborations with Australian industry.

We look forward to collaborating with the other members of the CRC on the development of the techno-economic modelling tools and expertise that are critical to ensuring least-cost decarbonisation and the growth of new industries such as down-stream critical mineral processing, green iron and renewable fuels”.
